Case study 1 of 2 · Regulated agricultural manufacturing

From paper travelers to a floor that catches problems before they happen.

Ferngroves Ag ran on clipboards, binders, and spreadsheets. Chris rebuilt it around one connected system, GroveTrack. Real client, real numbers, changed name.

Before

No answer to "who did this, and when?"

Quality evidence was scattered across binders and phones. Every report meant re-typing and reconciling before leadership saw a lagging picture of a floor moving in real time.

Diagnosis

On the floor, not from a spec

Chris mapped how work was really assigned and handed off, and where the paper record split from what actually happened — including blind spots nobody had a way to see yet.

Build

GroveTrack

A touch-first tablet app for the floor on a central system of record. It directs the work, guides it to standard, captures the record as it happens, and turns it into the reports leadership runs on.

One job, from plan to proof

A manager builds a transfer task with live tank levels and crew availability in view. It lands on a floor tablet with notes attached. The employee is guided step by step, readings record themselves, and the report builds when the job is done.

Every lot, supplier to customer

Supplier totes are scanned at the dock and their lots linked on arrival. Every batch, transfer, and tank builds an unbroken chain of custody. Lab results attach to the finished lot; anything off-spec is held and QA is alerted instantly. Any lot traces end to end in seconds.

  1. Traceability

  2. Verified quality

  3. Instant alerts

  4. Customer confidence

Every link, accounted for.

Always watching

Every digester is measured around the clock, and the system tracks how long each holds its target — a single slip restarts the clock. Managers start the shift with a short report of what's ready, only finished holds can be scheduled for harvest, and drift triggers a warning before anything goes out of spec.

  1. Always watching

  2. Daily clarity

  3. Safe harvests

  4. Rapid response

Quality, under control.

Case study 2 of 2 · Food quality & safety testing lab

From facing closure to training other labs.

Customers were losing confidence, and the owner was close to shutting the lab and sending its work to other labs in the network. Chris took it over. The lab stayed open, and within three years it was the lab where leaders of struggling labs came to be trained before going back to run their own.

Before

Errors on most certificates

More than 70% of certificates of analysis had errors. The ISO 17025 accreditation carried several audit findings, and the time a critical task took depended on who did it.

The method in miniature

One task, 20% faster

Some people finished the task in about three hours and others took five or more. Chris timed each person, adjusted for the day's sample volume, found where their methods differed, and built one standard from what worked.

After

A system others came to learn

Errors fell below 2%, mostly the occasional misspelling. The next ISO 17025 audit, within a year, had zero findings. The system became the training program for other labs in the network.
